Highlights of 2016

 D E A R   2 0 1 6

Before you get worried thinking this is another hate post about how pants you have been, bear with me, I think you might like this.

Ok, lets get it out there at the beginning of this post, you know lay it all out on the table. Yeah, I will be honest its been quite the year and you have thrown a fair whack our way. Now this post is not about getting into all of that because to be honest I want to finish the year on a high not on a downer.

This year for the world has been insane and for me personally I can probably use the same word to describe it. 2016 has been a year of so many HIGHS and HIGHLIGHTS but also a few pretty pants lows.

In the middle of the year I,  well the only way to describe it is I lost the plot. If you were around at that time you would of definitely noticed my lack of concentration, how I wasn't very present and would do anything to hide away and not really been seen, I said no to so many opportunities and well and truly lost my brave. My anxiety went through the roof and I found myself back in a place that I hadn't been in for such a long time, so yeah, cheers 2016.

I spent night after night lying awake, my mind filled with ridiculous thoughts and feelings.
It was a ridiculous cycle.
I wouldn't sleep worrying.
I would be sleepy and we all know that a sleepy tierd girl is not a girl you want to mess with.
It went like this day after day to the point where I can say I lost it.

One thing through it all that I always tried to do was to remember and hold on to the things I was thankful for. When I couldnt sleep I would lie in bed thinking of all the things I was so grateful for if its people, situations, memories, opportunities to be honest, it was anything and some times it was ridiculous things.

Through that whole time 2 Thessalonians 5: 18 was a bible verse that I kept repeating. Be thankful in ALL circumstances, in them all. Be thankful even when I don't feel like it. Be thankful when I am sad, when I am worried, when I am paranoid and anxious. I choose to be thankful.

You know I get it, its hard, really hard to be thankful but there is something that happens to us when we choose to remember what we are thankful for. When we choose to be thankful despite how we are feeling we take our eyes off our situtation and we realise what we have over what we don't have.

Its offically the last day of the year, I know, how did that happen and to finish the year off instead of another post about why I am done with this year and sharing all the negative things that have happened I wanted to share with you some of the highlights of 2016 and some of the things I am thankful for.

J A N U A R Y
Andrew and I got to see the New Year in, in Edinburgh. We managed to get tickets to see Biffy Clyro in the gardens underneath the castle, seriously Edinburgh know how to see a new year in. It honestly was one of the best experiences ever. I am so thankful I got to do it.

F E B R U A R Y
In Feb we got to see Dallas Green in Manchester, I had a few days with some friends in Chester. I took a few days off and we headed to Amsterdam for Andrews birthday. It was a month of so many adventures and I loved it.
M A R C H
This month we spent so much time with family, my FB for March is filled with so many pictures of fun times with the cute ones in my life, I seriously am so thankful for all my family. We also did some work on the house which we loved.

A P R I L
At the end of the month we headed to the Lake District on holiday with Andrews parents. The weather was amazing and we had a hot tub just outside the door with the most amazing view. It was such an amazing opportunity and I am so thankful we all got that time away.

This month I was so busy planning for a ton of work stuff, I am so thankful that I am in a job that I love.

This month was INSANE. I am so thankful for June. We had Kids Camp where we took away so many kids for the week. It was then my birthday and we had a day of adventures together.

More adventures were awaiting me in July. I headed to Brighton and London with my love. We also celebrated our first anniversary. We also found out that we were going to be Auntie and Uncle again.

A U G U S T
This is where things get a tad difficult. I took the month of FB and didn't post anything but in August I was thankful for a break. Summer had come and the generally pace in life slowed down. I spent loads of time reading and getting my craft on.

S E P T E M B E R
In September we launched a third location of Church which is BEYOND exciting.

O C T O B E R
We took a week off together in October and did so many amazing things. Spa days, walks and so much more.

Christmas drinks came back to Costa. Silly I know my I have been waiting for this all year.

D E C E M B E R
All of it. I mean this month has been insane. I have loved every single thing about it. To see everything we got up to then click here.

So there we have it 2016, although its been a strange year there is so much I have loved and thankful for.

So 2017. I am excited for you. I can not wait to see what you have in store for us.
Same time next year?

2016 Goals Revisted

So 2016 is nearly over and I am so excited for 2017 but lets just take a minute to just think about how fast this year has gone. I mean last time I checked it was June and I had just celebrated my birthday and now here I am surrounded by my own body weight in Christmas chocolate, presents thrown all over the living room floor, cookie scented candles filling the house and the fire sizzerling away.

Christmas has been so good to me and I had the best time with Andrew and my family but now my thinking has gone from Christmas and is getting set for a New Year.

I have so many plans and dreams for 2017 but before we get into them I thought it was only right that we re visited the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year and see how I did.

I have no idea how this is going to go, but here is the original post from January 2016.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1. Spend more time reading my bible.
This is one I think I will always need to work on but this year I really believe I have done this, I have created new routines and shedules and doing that has helped with this.
2. Read a book.
Now this one shocked so many poeple, I get it. I mean who doesn't read, well I don't and this year I have fallen in love with reading. In January and February this year I read 4 books and I have just downloaded some more to read over the next few days.
So YES, win for me.
3. Try something new!
I would like to say I have but I really don't think I have this year.
4. Make healthy choices.
Sometimes. Lets add this to 2017 to do list.
5. Exercise more. (boo)
Well I did, then I didn't, then I did. I don't feel like I failed too much on this one but I think what I need to learn to do in 2017 is making this more of a priority.
6. Chill out on social media.
This is always a on going thing and I think its something I need to carry on doing in 2017. This year I deleted facebook for a good few months and it was the best thing ever.

7. Finish decorating the house.
So we did a bit but nope, still a HUGE list of things to do.
8. Sort out the little room.
WE DID DO THIS! Yay to us, where is Andrew Wind I should go high 5 him.
9. Go on holiday.
We did, we may not have gone on a summer beach holiday but we have had some pretty amazing adventures this year. We saw the new year in, in Edinburgh, we headed to Amsterdam in Feb, April we stayed in a log cabin in the lakes, July we went to London for a few days and in December we had a weekend away.
So yeah we did have a few holidays. Next year I want some sun.
10. Keep up with the blogging.
So I feel like I haven't done aswell as I could have but I have blogged every month, I think. 2017 I really want to get into a better routine of blogging for you all.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Well I have to say I am pretty proud of myself. There are still things I need to work on but I am proud of myself for what I have done and achieved this year.

Coming soon: To Do in 2017

How did you all do on your 2016 goals?

Dear Diary: My Christmas Holidays

This Christmas has been pretty amazing. I have had the best few days with some of my favourites and   I wish I could do it all over again.

December is so busy for me so I try to be super organised and prepared when it comes to presents, sending cards and shopping and this year I am so glad I was. By the 18th December all presents were wrapped and under the tree. WHAT A FEELING. I was even so organised that I was able to blog every day for 12 days in the run up to Christmas which I loved, so make sure you head over  and check out some of those posts.

Andrew finished work on the 23rd which meant that we had Christmas Eve together which we have never done before. We spent the day baking and sorting any last minute things. On the evening we headed to a Carol Service at Church with my Brother and his family then it was time for the usual Christmas Eve tradition of a takeaway curry in front of the fire.

Christmas Day was LONG, so long but that was because Andrew woke up at 5.15am and when I woke up at 6 and couldn't see him I freaked out and then was awake for the rest of the day, we had done presents by 7am. HAAAAA!

We had a day or gifts,  Church, more presents, food, more presents, more food and more presents.

Here are some pictures of our perfect Christmas Day.

On Boxing Day, I woke up so early and decided to sit on sofa watching films and colouring in. When Andrew woke up we chilled out and went on a very windy and cold walk in the sun. We spent the rest of our day eating a second Christmas  meal at Andrews parents. This was all while sat in the queue on the Lush website, did you see that. Oh my, 8 hours it took, 8 hours.

So there we have it a little glimpse into my Christmas. I would say that I have done lots of other things but the truth is I have mainly been sat on the sofa watching endless episodes of Vampire Diaries and eating more chocolate than is sociable accceptable.

Christmas has been so amazing and I am now so excited for 2017.

Day 12 of the 12 Days till Christmas

Lets just say that again...

Everyone stay calm, actually stuff that everyone go mad its Christmas for goodness sake.

Now I am excited for Christmas but I think if I am being honest I am more excited for the fact that I made it. 12 posts in 12 days. Go me. Winning at life.

Any way. Here it is Day 12 of the 12 Days of Christmas.

So if you have been around here a while or even clicked on the ABOUT ME bit at the top you will know that I am a Christian and work as a Children's worker for a Church. I love it, working with those kids is the best and so much fun.

I have been a christian for a long time and its seriously changed my life. Now that is a long story and I don't think we fancy going into that on Christmas eve but as a Christian, Christmas is such a special time for me and means so much more that just presents and food and family. Now don't get me wrong that is a huge part of it but its also a whole lot more.

Here is a little video that reminds me what Christmas is all about. Its super cute and I think you will love it.

I hope you have the best day.

Day 11 of the 12 Days till Christmas

Those Christmas lights, light up the sky.... Who sings that song? No really who sings it, I am off to google it.

COLDPLAY, thats right.

Do you know that song, well if you don't here you go. Enjoy.

Enough of that, lets get on with this...

Andrew has finished work so we celebrated by going for a Christmas light drive around our town and taking some Christmassy pictures of the lights in our local park. As you can see they are as old as me but I love them.

Enough of me and my chat, keep scrolling and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Have you all realised that tomorrow is Christmas eve. YAY.

Day 10 of the 12 Days till Christmas

Ok, ok, before we all get mad I will explain. Yesterday I wrote a post and forgot to publish it so yeah I suppose it was late and well if you have been around this blog a while and were here for Blogmas2015  then you would have seen this but the truth is the info hasn't changed so whats the point in re writing it. So yeah, you guessed it today's post is just a good old recycle and re use one from last year but its a good one so don't leave just yet.

Anyhooooo, welcome to Day 10 of the 12 Days till Christmas.

One thing that makes me feel more Christmassy is a good old sing along to some Christmas songs.

Every year the same playlist comes out and is loaded on spotify and my phone and it is played none stop.

So here it is My Christmas Time Playlist.

Day 9 of the 12 Days till Christmas

So if you have guessed it I have missed a day, boohoo! The truth is I was planning the post had wrote the post and the completely forgot to publish it. So lucky for you all you get two posts in one day. one now and one later.

A little later that planned but here is Day 9 of the 12 Days till Christmas.

Today is all about nails. Now I love polishing my nails and I think its fair to say that I have not had bare nails in around 10 years. Some people hate it others love it and I am a huge fan of it.

Now with Christmas days away I new I needed to get my festive nails good to go. Now normally I think at this time of the year the go to colour is RED but for me uh huh this year I just wanted glitter and sparkles and I didn't care what colour it was.

I am obsessed with these nails and the colour and the glitter and the different colour sparkles and just OHLMFAGFJKABFUIGAKLFAKLHFAH.

So here we have it my festive nails for Christmas 2016.

So how did I get this beautiful nails.

1. Clean them up, file them down, buff them up, just a little TLC your nails will thank you for it.

2. First coat is the Barry M Quick Dry nail varnish in colour Pit Stop.

3. Once that has dried then its time for the sparkle. I chose Nails Inc Holographic and its beautiful. It dried so well and I went for 2 coats for extra sparkles.

4. Once that has dried I just popped on a clear coat of the Nail Envy nail harder. I always think especially with glitter you need just a clear coat of something to finish it off.

So there we have it. My Festive Nails and you can find all the link here...

Christmas is coming everyone. Make sure you get yourself ready.

Day 8 of the 12 Days till Christmas

Day 8 is here and today the festive levels have gone to new heights!

We had our official staff lunch, now when I say lunch I meam sweets, crisps and generally a feast of party food. We then covered our desk in coloured lights and listened to Christmas songs all day.

And as well as all that I a heading out in a few hours for a Friendmas get together to eat more food.
What a day.

But for now lets get into today's 12 Days till Christmas post.

I am super proud of myself you know, I have not blogged for months and here I am on my 8th day in a row blogging. Who the HECK am I.

So as you know last year Andrew and I got married and here is a little picture here...

We bought our first home and planned our wedding all within 6 months and last Christmas was our 1st Christmas together as husband and wife and in a new home. I love it so much, I mean we could write and do what we want. I could wake up when we wanted, go to bed when we wanted. We could write our own traditions and that is exactly what we did.

Now I know for it to be a tradition it has to be done a few times and well some are still do be done but are being done so there are officially a tradition now. I say so, so here are my Christmas traditions.

Its been 10 years now since I have left school and still every Christmas and at different times throughout the year me and the girls who were friends at school always get together for a little friendmas get together. Its always one of my favourite times

Every year we always try and buy a new Christmas decoration to add to our collection, like I have said this is only our 2nd Christmas in this house so the Christmas decoration collection is still growing.

Funny may it seem but every Christmas we try and drink our way through all the festive drinks in Costa. I mean anything for a cheeky Costa with my husband. You will be glad to know that between the two of us this has been conquered and completed.

We did this for the first time last year and plan to do it again this year but we love to get both of our families together for some party food, chats and Christmas fun.

For the last couple of years myself and my brother and sister and their families get together for breakfast at a local farmshop. We eat yummy food and then look around the animals. Its so nice for us to get together as we don't always have the chance.

Our local curry house does a crazy deal on Christmas eve so yep we take advantage and enjoy a festive curry treat.

Every year we always pop on our Christmas jumpers, put on a film, grab some festive snacks and decorate our tree. Its always one of my favourite days.

Every year around Christmas we always head to Newcastle for some Christmas shopping and to check out the Christmas markets. We always make sure we go and check out Fenwicks windows aswell.

Well there we go. Our Christmas traditions. I am excited to see this list grow.

So what are you Christmas traditions. I would love to know.
