A date every month for a whole year! #2

How on earth is it the 31st October.

This month has some how flown by without me quite realising. Its such a cold, wintery night and I have spent the majority of my afternoon sat on the sofa with the fire going eating yummy homemade soup. The nights are now so dark and all I want to do is put on my pjs, my brand new Primark dressing gown (which I have to say is probably the best £15 I have spent it is the comfiest thing I have ever worn) and sit on the sofa drinking hot chocolate and if I am being honest tonight was no exception.

For some reason we completely forgot about our date for the month of October until I stumbled across it while having a sort out.

For those who don't know Andrew and I were incredibly blessed by some of our amazing friends who organised a date every month for a whole year. We have already had one date which you can find here. Now with it being the last day of October and tomorrow the start of a new month and a whole new date we knew that tonight was our last chance to get our October date on.

This months date looked like this. We received an envelope with instructions and a present as well.

These were our instructions.

So in our present we received some paints and blank canvas. Now this was exciting.

Being completely honest I was pretty excited at this one. I mean I once got a A* in art for drawing a pretty awesome mushroom. Now Andrew wasn't too keen so we had to keep our artistic skills to a minimum so no there was no landscapes or self portraits going on.

But we had ONE problem. These kids paints we received are the WORST to open. We honestly both struggled to open them, I even tried to use my mouth (I know gross) but still I couldn't open them.

After what felt like 57 minutes trying to get these stinking paints open we finally succeeded.

We decided to just paint our hands and stick it on the canvas, now I know what you are thinking super creative or what. The problem was the paint dried before we had time to print our hands on the canvas (what do we expect really when we are trying to take pictures) so cue some very fast hand painting and printing.

This guy loves it. He wishes he was on Art Attack.

The moment of truth...

Yay :)

But wait...
We weren't finished there were we.

Lets not forget the impossible task of getting into the kids paints again!

Ladies and Gentlemen the finished masterpiece.

Ok, maybe if we were more creative and spent more time we could of created a masterpiece fit to sell on Ebay or even put up in The Station.  But no, instead we spent 15 minutes painting and then probably another 15 trying to wash the paint off our hands but it was so fun to do something so different together and have a few laughs along the way mainly at the fact I ate some paint, Andrew got it all over his nose and I now need to wash the table cloth.

Now we need to find somewhere to put this????

Thank you lovely friends.
Again we loved our October date. Excited to see what November brings.

Wedding Photo Favs!

Saturday 11th July, I married the most amazing man ever.
He is honestly the best thing and life with him is BEYOND exciting.

We had THE BEST DAY ever and one of the things I love is that we had an amazing photographer who has given us so many pictures to help us remember our beautiful day.

Caroline from Photography with Caroline was brilliant and we loved that she could be apart of our day and take part in celebrating it with us.

We have so many pictures and I wish I could share them all but here are some of my favourite shots from the day.

They bring back so many memories.

Like I said just a few. But when I look at these I am instantly taken back to our amazing day.

Thank you Caroline. We just love them all.

A Thursday full of Thanks #2

This week along with friends we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving. Please know we didn't just pick a random holiday and decided to celebrate it (although I could get on board with that) one of us is an ACTUAL Canadian.

We has such a lovely evening eating so much Turkey but before the pudding we had to share with everyone what we were thankful for in the last year.

This year has been a busy one so I had quite the list.

With it being Canadian Thanksgiving it is only right that this week we bring back a Thursday full of Thanks. Its been a while since my first post but you can check it out here.

So here it is...

Again, this boy forever makes my heart so happy. He listens to me, reassures me, makes me laugh and just gets me. This year has been an incredible year for us both. It is so amazing living in what we have dreamed and talked about for the last year. In the last couple of weeks Andrew has been working so hard at work for us, because of that I am beyond thankful for him.

This is my favourite season, there is something about autumn that just makes my heart so happy. I love EVERYTHING about it. I am so thankful that we live in a world where we have autumn.

In the last few weeks I have been able to spend so much time with friends and I have loved it. I've loved being able to eat food and catch up with some of my favourites. I am thankful that amongst the busy life we all lead that we still have friends who cook for us and invite us around to admire there flamingo fairy lights.

Andrew and I have been blessed with a beautiful home and I am so thankful for it. I love our log burner and those evenings where we can curl up on the sofa with a fluffy blanket and watch tv.

I have had some busy weeks and with work I sometimes find myself out quite a lot of evenings but in the last few weeks Andrew and I have found ourselves literally having nothing to do on a Saturday. We have loved it and have very much taken advantage of it doing ABSOLUTELY nothing apart from eating food, making soup and watching Netflix. I am so thankful for lazy Saturdays with that nice husband of mine.

As you know I am the children's worker at Influence Church. Every day I get to work with the most incredible team who literally blow me away with there hard work and love. I will forever be thankful for all of them.

So as you can see I have a very thankful heart.

James 1:17
'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.'

So what are you all thankful for I would love to know!

A place called Comfort. Trying something new.

Here is a list of all the new things I have tried this week.
-          I wore my hair in a different way
-          I made sweet potatoe fries
-          I moved some stuff around in my house (Including the wash basket, whoa this has messed with my life.)
-          I wore a top with some trousers that I have never done before
-          I drove a different way to work
-          I had different cereal than usual.

Why did I do these things? I don’t know, why not.
I mean I thought why not try something new and different.

Every week I see so many different posts on social media of people trying out new things.
You know…

‘I am trying out a new gym class tonight.’
‘I am trying out this new restaurant?’
‘Anyone tried this product what did you think, I am thinking of trying it out?

Every week without fail I reckon we will try something new.

I mean look at all the things I have tried this week. Going back over them again I don’t think I will wear my hair like that again, I preferred my old cereal and actually I think I will go back to the normal way I drive to work.

But I did like sweet potato fries and loved the outfit that I put together and I love the changes we made in the house.

I mean if I hadn’t of tried something new I wouldn’t have known that I liked it.

How many times in the last month have you tried something new and you liked it?
How many times have you tried something and you didn’t like it?

We are constantly trying new things.
If we like it we will carry on using it, making it and doing it.
If we don’t like it then we don’t need to try it again.

One thing I find really interesting is that people are willing to try a lot of things but when it comes to trying church, it’s definitely a NO.

I mean what happens if you try it and you do like it?
And well if you try it and you don’t like it then least you tried something new and stepped out of that place called comfort.

Tomorrow in church we have an amazing man coming to speak. I heard him speak for the first time probably 10 years ago and honestly I can remember everything. Mark is an international communicator who has completed a national tour, performed his live shows at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, making people laugh, making them cry and ultimately making them think of their lives in the light of what God has done for us.

Now I know some of you are probably reading this thinking but no church isn't for me.
But how will you know until you try it.

To many of us spend so much time in that place called comfort. I suppose my challenge for you is how about you step out and maybe try church this weekend.

If you like it then amazing, if you don’t like it then at least you tried something new.

Autumn Must Haves...

Autumn Autumn Autumn Autumn have I told you that I love autumn. I mean lets take a minute to think about a world with out Autumn.......
Nope, its not worth thinking about is it really.

Like seriously I am obsessed with the colours of Autumn so much. I currently have about 100 pictures of trees on my phone.
Well, why not?

Now Autumn has always been my favourite season of the year but there are some things I need to get me through this season we are in.

So welcome to my Autumn Essentials.

Hello. I am all about the candles all year round but there is something about the candles at this time of the year that just make me want to eat them.
At the moment the smell of our house is Banana Nut Bread. We got given a beautiful oil burner off a friend and she bought us a Pumkin wax cube set and the Banana one and oh my. I am sat now with it burning and its just so beautiful.
Honestly I want to eat it it smells so good. We can have this lit in the living room and you can smell it all around the house it is so yummy.

Now I love tea a lot and recently I have become all about the fruit, herbal tea and if you saw my current loves last month I was obsessed with the Salted Caramel tea. But in the last few weeks I have become all about the Yorkshire tea.
You know a proper brew.
I mean just thinking about it now I am craving a Yorkshire tea with 1 sugar. I am secretly hoping Andrew comes in and asks me if I want a drink. I just love nothing more than sitting on the sofa in a blanket watching all the 'Autumn themed' videos on youtube drinking a good traditional cup of tea. This really is the season where I fully embrace the hot drinks. I can not wait for Costa to get there Hot Spiced Apple. :)

When Andrew and I were looking at buying a house we really wanted a proper fire or a log burner and well it happened. We are in love with our log burner. You have probably seen it in many a Instagram picture. But I love that we have got to the time of the year where we can have fires on an evening.
I love curling up on the sofa watching Netflix with a roaring fire on. I mean if that doesn't scream autumn country living to you then what does.

As the weather changes there are some fashion essentials that I CAN NOT LIVE WITH OUT. I mean the weather is so unpredictable. There are so many times I wake up and it is freezing so I wrap up in a jumper but then come lunch time I am melting. Anyone experienced this or am I just messed up?!?!?
But here is what I need to see my through the season changes.
Scarves, Sunglasses and Jumper/Cardigan.
I love that we are in a season where it still so sunny that you need sunglasses but there is a chill in the air when you need to wear a jumper and scarf. I just love layering up and feeling all snuggerly.

Without fail every year the change in temperature around autumn time makes my hands go so dry, because of that I totally can not make it through the autumn with out my faithful Soap & Glory Hand Dream. This is amazing and is for Dry Skin Relief and it definitely works I can notice a different instantly.
Now the other beauty essentials I can not get through autumn with out of course has to be the berry tone lipstick. At the moment I am all about the Kate Moss shade number 30 lipstick, it is so beautiful and has such great staying power. Good job Kate, Good job.

I am a big believer that every single person needs a fluffy blanket. Fluffy blankets make everything alright. Not even lying.
We picked this gorgeous fluffy light grey blanket up from Primark and it was in the sale at £9.90 instead of £15.00 (BARGAIN.) The thing I love about this blanket is the size of it. IT IS HUGE. Andrew can sit on one side of the sofa and I cant sit on the other and it still covers us both. It is amazing.

Now I like to read but there is something about this time of the year that makes me want to read more. I mean picture this with me.
Cold autumnal night, its starting to get dark. The fire is on and the Banana Nut Bread wax burner is burning. You snuggled up on the sofa under your warm fluffy blanket with a cup of tea reading a good book. Autumn and Winter are definitely the season I read more, I know that sounds funny right. But in summer and spring when its warmer I want to be outside but come this time of the year I want to curl up, journal, watch a good series and read a book.
At the moment I am reading Soul Detox by Pastor Craig Groeschel and also One Day by David Nicholls.

Like I said above come Autumn/Winter you spend more time inside instead of out and I always feel like you need a good tv series to watch on the nights you stay in. We have just started watching and Arrow and oh my he is a handsome chap isn't he.
Andrew and I have many series on the go and watch lots of different shows to each other but we always make sure we have one series that we watch together. This means every night we can get the fluffy blanket and sit and watch it. There is strictly no watching this with out the other person being there.

So what are the things you can not live with out this Autumn. I would love to know??

The Song Time Machine.

Ever heard a song and instantly been transported back to a time that you had forgotten? Anyone?

Well this week while I was cleaning the house I set up iTunes and pressed the shuffle button. I LITERALLY had no idea what would play.

Now don't get me wrong, there was the good and there was the bad. I mean why did I waste 79p on some of the songs I have on my iTunes. What was I thinking.

But then I found myself listening to songs that I had not listened to in years and re living so many memories and remembering so many people and moments that I had completely forgotten. A few weeks ago I did a post called a Wander Down Memory Lane where I talked about all the pictures that reminded me of so many different times. But you know, songs can do the same.

Anyone with me on this?
Anyone have a song that reminds you of a time in your life and now when you hear it you are transported back in that time machine.

So here they are, the three songs that take me back and where they take me back too.

1. I'll make a man out of you. Mulan

This song! Who knew Donny Osmond sang it.
I remember seeing this film when I was 11 in a cute cinema in York and instantly falling in love with it. Can you believe this came out in 1998. Now that makes me feel old.
Now I had somewhat forgot about the film until I found the DVD in the local supermarket when I was 20, I remember buying it for a laugh but instantly became obsessed with this film. At the time I was a youth worker in a church in Liverpool and I remember watching this with some of the youth I was working with and this became our song. We use to sing it all the time and new it off by heart. (Being honest I still do)
This songs reminds me of the 4 years I worked in Liverpool and amazing young people I worked with.

2. Moulin Rouge. Elephant Love Medley

I feel like I am not the only one who loves and knows this song off by heart. I am sure there are many girls in their twenties who know this word for word having learnt it as a teenager when this first was released. I mean my friends and I can not be the only ones who took a part each, either playing Nicole or Ewan. (I was always Ewan)
I remember it being the Queens Jubilee (I think, something like that) and I was invited to a village fete near my best friends house. We spent the day doing sports day games, eating cake and then in the afternoon I remember us singing and dancing around her house to the Moulin Rouge sound track. I must of been 16 at the time.
This song never gets old, like the first song I still know it word for word.

3. City and Colour. Save your Scissors.

Now this song is a tad different to the other two.
But I just love it.
I remember hearing this song on some ones profile on Myspace, you know when you could have a song playing instantly when you clicked on it. Anyone else remember that?
At the time of hearing this song I was working in a cute shop in town. I would spend my Saturdays in between customers coming in listening to a mix tape CD that I made and reading books.
This song was on the CD. I loved it and had it on repeat none stop. Now when I hear this song, I remember that cute shops and my Saturdays spent there reading.

Ahhhh, since re listening to these songs I have become obsessed with them again.

So what songs take you back in time? I would love to know.
